Sifrut the Eternal Child

Sifrut the Eternal Child (real name: Sifrut) is a child born outside of the realm of time and is the ruler of dreams. She is called Sifrut the Eternal Child because she doesn't age like a normal being would and only begins to age when she enters the mortal domain of the Chronoverses or Zetalon.

Even though she has existed all across time she only looks ten years old. Her mother is The Scribe of Natsar but her father is unnamed. However, Sifrut has made several statements that gives some idea as to who her father may be. She claims through her dreams she has seen that her father dwells in the eternal flames. Also, she claims the reason she wears a black cloak is because it makes her feel close to her father.

History of Sifrut the Eternal Child

The Realm of Dreamland

The Dreamer (Sifrut) exists outside of time and the Chronoverses in a quarantined realm that was created by when huemans were created. It was an unexpected result just like the unexpected birth of Sifrut. Before the Dreamland was created, Sifrut lived on Natsar with her mother, watching over all of time. During those early days Sifrut would age mentally like she was supposed to but her body wouldn’t.

Her mother was distraught and thought she would forever be a baby. Yaḫayam paid the two a visit one day and as a primordial of time, the time around Sifrut began to flow while she held her. After being around her for a week she aged to one years old. They found that The Scribe would need to take Sifrut into the timeline periodically until she was old enough to go herself.

When huemans were created and the Dreamland realm manifested as a result, the primordials of new and old were unsure what to do with it. Sifrut then came forward and said in one of her dreams she saw that she was in charge of stewarding the dreams, good and bad, of huemans. She was then titled The Dreamer and placed as the ruler of the constantly growing Dreamland.

As the ruler of dreams she has to travel between four main realms. Dreamland, Natsar, Chronoverse, and Kur. She dwells in Dreamland but visits Natsar to see her mother and to collect new books from the Chronicles so she can create new dreams. She visits Chronoverse out of her own curiosity of the uniqueness of each and every different person. She visits Kur because she enjoys being around The Maalik and all of the stories he tells her but also because she shows some people their different afterlife fates as part of their dreams.

Parentage of Dreams

The Dreamer is one of six entities that appeared out of nowhere to serve the Gavah Moatzah in their goals and needs. The Dreamer who was placed in charge of the realm of Dreams. The Scribe who was placed in the realm of Natsar to record all of time and space.

The Maalik was placed in charge of the dead in the realm of Kur. The Gifter was placed in charge of granting wishes and lived in the realm of Kur. The Warden was placed in charge of Beyt-Kele to maintain order across the Chronoverse. The Threader was placed at Beyt Gavah and placed in charge of healing the universe.

One day her mother was pregnant with her out of nowhere and upon her birth she would not disclose who the father of the child was. However, throughout her existence she has dreamt dreams that reveal to her who her father is. She has respected her mother’s wishes and doesn’t state her father’s name instead she has said that he dwells in the eternal fire.

Since she can see past, present, and future it could be anyone but people have speculated that it is either Yahauah baYahayah, Hayalal baYahayah, Shathan baYahayah, or The Maalik. However, they still acknowledge that there are others that The Scribe may have came across who are also in eternal flames that could be the father. Especially, when The Dreamer says that she wears her black cloak to feel closer to her father and none of those men are associated with cloaks.

The Princess of Qur

In the days when the realm of Qur first appeared to the divine; the king, Kur, would have the outsiders call his step-daughter Mamu the Dreamer (also spelled Mamud). She was a goddess associated with dreams. Part of her role was that of providing divination and visions to those who entered her realm. She controlled both dreams and nightmares. However, when she was upset she would become the being known as Alû (also spelled Alûd), a vengeful spirit of the Utukku that goes down to the underworld Qur.

When the Egyptians entered the scene of power she would be called Beset and Tutu. As Beset, she was wife of the god Bes, and served as a protector of housholds and, in particular, of mothers, children, and childbirth. They would become known as the divine beings of dreams and keepers of the wishes of their worshippers. However, when she was angry she would take on the role of Tutu (also written as Twtw and Tithoes), meaning “image”. She was called the “master of demons” and was believed to be like a roaring lion when the anger took control, she was quite dangerous to in their eyes.

The Phoenicians soon rose from the ashes of the Sumerians and Mesopotamians, and to them they saw her as Shalim (also spelled Šalem), meaning peace, Bohu (also spelled Boho), meaning chaos, and Aezon (also spelled Aizon), meaning balance. As Shalim, she was the goddess of dusk, compared to Shahar, the god of dawn. Her name means peace and sunset. She oversaw the dream world of the Phoenicians.

By the Greeks she was called Hypnos (also spelled Hypnus), goddess of sleep; the Romans called her by the name of Somnus. Her name is the origin of the word hypnosis. She is a dear friend of the Muses. However, those who worshiped the Cult of Hā́idēs knew her as Mēlinóē (also spelled Melinoi), daughter of Hā́idēs, and chthonic goddess who was a bringer of nightmares and madness. The Romans referred to her as Mania. Her Dreamare form from the future was called Mēlipnos by the Greeks, meaning sleepless, and Somania (also spelled Somnia) by the Romans, meaning sleep.

The Celtic people refered to her as Nodens (also spelled Nodonti). She had a connection with dogs, a beast associated with healing symbolism in antiquity. However, her darker form was called Caer Ibormeith, goddess of dreams and prophecy. She was a powerful figure who held sway over the realm of sleep and visions. Her ability to appear in dreams and influence their content made her a complex and intriguing being in their eyes.

In the days of the last kingdom, she was known as Njörun (also written as Niorun, also known as Nótt), goddess of dream and the night. However, they knew to beware of her twisted form, filled with rage, and such called her Mære. To them in the dark she was a malicious entity that walked on people’s chest while they slept, bringing on nightmares and feelings of helplessness. Her Dreamare form gained the name Njömære (also spelled Niomare), and Nóttmære.
