History of Gaphan baYahauah

The Eveningstar

Gaphan baYahauah was born in the Shomer universe before the collapse of the Chronoverse. She was born as the first child to her father, Yahauah, and twin sister of Hayalal. However, she is the second born of her mother, Yamauat. The first child being born a stillbirth and thus not recorded in her lineage.

She spent all of her early days in Qur with her mother as the chief scribe of the dead in the afterlife. She was responsible for keeping track of the dead, and for permitting them to enter the underworld. Under her mother’s command she would also give the reapers their charges and who they were to collect and bring to the land of Akhron in Qur for their final rest.

She is known as the dusk-bringer, the grapevine, the Vine, and the light-bearer of the west after sunset, while her twin brother, Hayalal, is known as the light-bearer of the east before sunrise. She is the record keeper of the realm of Qur and chooses to remain loyal to her mother and their home realm, unlike her brother who is more shifty in his allegiances.

Her most notable tales are in relation to her brother, Hayalal, and sister-in-law, Gilah baNanna. One of which, Hayalal had a dream that she interpreted for him. She informs him that it foretells his death. A death that would come at the hands of evil bandits called the galla.

The Aeoliran Faith

Eveningstar was abandoned by their father, Yahauah, and loved by her mother mainly for the role she played in the territory of Akhron in the realm of Qur. However, she loved her brother and he loved her. Nonetheless, she never betrayed her mother, but when Hayalal was assigned to guard the garden that Fandorah was placed in, she would go to visit him without anyone knowing of it.

She would teach her brother about dream interpretation, a gift he would then share with the hueman creations of Enki and Ninmaḫ. When her brother started to hear the voice of a woman in his ear she would listen intently to his stories of what she said to him. She didn’t believe him at first about them being stories of a primordial being before their grandfather, but humored him.

Though one day she would have her own encounter with the voice and was sent to The Maalik’s library where he granted her a chance to learn all she could wish for. When she emerged from the library she had gained the genetic makeup of a werecat and decided to make an eternal pledge to The One Beyond the Veil.

The Goddess of Records

When the gods made their way to earth she would take on the name Geshtinanna (also spelled Geshtinama) and Amageshtin (also spelled Amageshtinanna and Amageshtinama). She was a goddess best known due to her role in the stories about her twin brother, Dumuzid’s death. Her name meant “Grapevine of Heaven”, “Sweet Mother”, and “Lovely Mother”. She is the chief scribe of the underworld and keeps track of the dead. To the Mesopotamians she was known as Ningestinna, which meant “Lady of the Vine”, “Queen of the Vine”, and “Mistress of the Vine”.

When the Egyptians took to power she became known as Bastet (also spelled Bꜣstt, Ubasti, and Bubastis), a fierce lioness warrior goddess, she was seen as defender of the king. She was the goddess of protection, pleasure, and the bringer of good health. She had the head of a cat and a slender female body. This would carry on to the Phoenicians who called her Bast.

When the Greeks came to power she became known as Ailuros. Her name in Koine Greek means “cat”. She represented the gentler aspects of the warrior persona. She is considered a goddesss of the sun and was considered an Eye of Ra. She is often depicted as fighting the evil snake Apep in the annals.
