History of Urash

The God of Hunting and Agriculture

Urash was created in the Earth-3.0 universe before the collapse of the Chronoverse. He was a meltsar created by Enlil along with his wife, Pendigalli. Within the first year of them being created he impregnated his wife with their first daughter, Nani. He was created to infiltrate the Earth territories nearest to Utu, son of Enki, so he may sabatoge the authority of Enki with the Igigi. However, his daughter, Nani, would end up betraying Urash and marrying the grandson of Enki, Nabu.

He is known as the Lord of Barley and Lord of Girsu. Also, he is the guardian of farming, healing, hunting, law, scribes, and war. In the earliest records, he is a god of agriculture and healing, who cures humans of sicknesses and releases them from the power of demons. In later times, as Mesopotamia grew more militarized, he became a warrior deity, though he retained many of his earlier agricultural attributes.

Esus, God of Logging

In the times of the Gauls and Celts he became known as Esus (aka Hesus). He was a god of well-being, energy, and passion in the eyes of the Celts.

He was part of a triad of deities including Teutates (Yahayah), Hesus (himself), and Taranis (Yahauah). As a warrior god human victims were sacrificed to him by being tied to a tree and flogged to death.

The God of Grain

During the era of the Egyptians he would take on the name of Neper, god of grain. His female counterpart was Nepit, the goddess of grain. His consort was Tayt, the goddess of weaving. His name simply means “lord of the mouth”, a reference to the function of grain as sustenance. As lord of the mouth, Neper’s mother was identified as Renenutet, who gave out the ren, a person’s true name, and who was also identified as a source of nourishment. In particular, Neper was especially associated with the most used types of grain, namely barley and emmer wheat.

The Egyptians would also know him as Shezmu (also spelled as Schesmu and Shesmu). He was considered a god of ointments, perfume, and wine. In this role, he was associated with festivities, dancing, and singing. But he was also considered a god of blood, who could slaughter and dismember other deities. It is thought possible that the ancient Egyptians used red wine to symbolize blood in religious offerings, explaining why Shesmu is associated with both blood and wine.

When the Greeks came to power he would become known as Philómēlos (also written as Philomenus). He was a minor Greek demi-god, patron of husbandry, tillage/ploughing and agriculture. His name means ‘friend of ease’ from philos and mêlos. Out of necessity, Philómēlos bought two oxen, invented the wagon or plough, and supported himself by ploughing his fields and cultivating crops.

The Celtic people would come to know him as Esus (also written as Hesus, Esos, and Aisus). He was the god of well-being, energy, and passion. As a warrior god human victims were sacrificed to him by being tied to a tree and flogged to death.
