History of Šubur
The Goddess of Palaces
Šubur was born on the Earth-3.0 universe before the collapse of the Chronoverse. She was originally an Igigi who was obsessed with the King of the Underworld and in an attempt to become closer with him she tried to kill herself, but Death, Yamauat, herself rejected her. She then gained access to the blood of Kur and would drink it turning her into a goddess. She would travel between Šamym, Mātušarrūtu, and Qur on behalf of mortals as her punishment.
During one of her travels to the Temple of Kur she would trick The Maalik into fathering a child with her who they would name Gishbanda. However, the fact that she tricked The Maalik into giving her a child angered The Guider and The Dreamer who both regarded The Maalik as a father figure.
Ninshubur, Lady of Servants
Ninšubur primary role was that of the sukkal (divine attendant) of the goddess Inanna. As a sukkal, she functioned both as a messenger deity and as an intercessor between other members of the pantheon and human petitioners.
Ninšubur’s attribute was a staff, a sign of her office as a sukkal representing right to rule granted to her by her masters. It is possible that it was believed Ninshubur therefore bestowed similar privileges upon kings.
