History of Anzû

The Archangel of Healing

Anzû is a divine monster conceived by Abzû and Tiamat. He is a massive bird who can breathe fire and water. He at times was depicted as a lion-headed eagle. When they were drawn into the Shomer universe before the emergence of the Chronoverse, he would be renamed to Raphaal baYadabaq.

He is the second born son of Yadabaq, born from the darkness before the dragons were born. He would become the husband of Elisabet Jones, father of Kenneth King, and adopted father of Whitney Jones. After his birth and after the creation of the Messengers (Angels) he would go to train with them in Erabot in the realm of Qur and be converted from a Lilin to an Archangel in his DNA.

Raphaal, spelled as Raphael in modern times, means “Healing of God”, “Shade of God”, “Ghost of God”, “Giant of God”, or “Medicine of God”. Holding a double meaning like his father’s name means. He would later become assigned to being a messenger for physical and emotional healing of the people, following in the footsteps of his mother who was the chief medical officer.

He not only helps in healing individuals but also helps healers in their healing practice. He aids in restoring and maintaining harmony and peace. He is also the patron of travelers, watching over them to ensure a safe and harmonious journey. Working in conjunction with Michael, he helps to clear away fears and stressors that maybe adversely affecting health.

The Protector

Raphael was born to his father by someone other than his soulmate wife. However, his biological mother was absent in his care but his stepmother Yaphaqad raised him and nurtured him. This made him loyal to her and all children she would bring forth from that point.

He helped to train his sister Yagalah Leubh in the art of war and craft so she could stand by their father’s side as a general. He despised his younger siblings Maseth and Suth due to them being born from Kishefdik tricking his father, Yadabaq, and his uncle, Yadayan, into forcing Yadabaq into baring children with her as penance.

After those two were born, Yaphaqad would give him two more siblings who he would look after and support as the older brother. However, the last child that would be born from Yaphaqad to Yadabaq was Yaāṣab better known as Tristia. After Tristia was born he would fully retire from the army of Yahauah and became the main caregiver and protector of his baby sister.

However, before the child could even reach three years old the Republic would try to murder the Leubh family and Raphael was sent into hiding with Tristia to protect her.

Anzû, the Great Bird

Originally, Raphaal was born as was born as Anzû in the Tahom from the inevitable darkness before the emergence of the Chronoverse. He is the third born child of his father and was a massive bird who could breathe fire and water, although at times Anzû appeared to people as a lion-headed eagle. He is a divine storm-bird and the personification of the southern wind and the thunder clouds.

According to the history books of Zetalon, Anzû battled in battle against Marduk during the times of war between Yadabaq and Yahayah. He was injured and Yahayah stripped him of his old name and authority, forcing Yadabaq to rename his son.

In the lands of earth when the mortals would worship him, he would be called Neti (also spelled Nedu) and Bitu (also spelled Bidu). He was a god who served as the doorkeeper of the underworld. He could also be addressed as the “great gatekeeper.” In incantations which were meant to compel demons and ghosts to return to the underworld, a formula placing them under the control of Bitu was sometimes used during those rituals.

As the Egyptians came into power he would be known as Anubis (also spelled Inpu, Inpw, Jnpw, Anpu, and Anoup). He was a god of funerary rites, protector of graves, and guide to the underworld in ancient Egyptian religion. He usually would wear a canine head shaped helmet during his work. He was associated with the process of mummification and presided over the “god’s booth,” or place where embalming was carried out, also referred to as the pharaoh’s burial chamber. It was said that he aided Isis in the embalming of Osiris.

When the Phoenicians and Hebrews rose to authority, he would be called Ziz. He was said to be large enough to be able to block out the sun with his wingspan. As Līvyāṯān is the king of fishes, so the Ziz is appointed to rule over the birds. And Behēmōṯ the king of all the beast of the earth.

During the days of the Greeks, he was called Kábeiroi (also spelled Cabeiri, Cabiri, and Kabiri). He was a chthonic deity worshipped in a mystery cult closely associated with Hḗphaistos. He was associated with metallurgy. The Romans called him Cacus, the fire-breathing giant and the son of Vulcan.

During the last kingdom of the Norse, he would take on the role of Heimdallr (also spelled Heimdall). He was the god who kept watch for invaders and the onset of Ragnarök from his dwelling Himinbjörg, where the burning rainbow bridge Bifröst meets the sky. He is attested as possessing foreknowledge and keen senses, particularly eyesight and hearing.

After leaving Zetalon he would take his seat as governor of Erabot in the land of Qur. He would be called Rædwulf, meaning “counsel of the wolf” he was seen as an oracle who functions as a wise man in the Norse religion.
