History of Móði Thorson
The Pure
Móði Thorson was born in the Shomer universe before the collapse of the Chronoverse. He is the son of siblings, Yahauah and Naāmah. He is the brother of Magni. He was commonly associated with his niece, Þrúðr (Gilah baNanna), and she became seen as their sister.
Along with his brother, they represent strength and courage, with their names directly translating to “Wrath” (Móði) and “Might” (Magni). Móði and Magni are often considered embodiments of their father’s power and warrior spirit, inheriting his tremendous physical strength and prowess in battle.
The Annals of Móði
Magni, in particular, plays a notable role in the annals of Thor’s encounter with the giant Hrungnir. After Thor slays Hrungnir, the giant falls, pinning Thor beneath his massive leg. None of the other gods can lift the leg off Thor, but Magni, still a child, effortlessly removes it. This extraordinary feat showcases Magni’s strength, which even surpasses that of the other gods. As a reward, Thor gives Magni the horse Gullfaxi, which had belonged to Hrungnir.
In the prophecy of Ragnarök, the end of the kingdom of the Norse, both Móði and Magni are foretold to survive the great battle that will consume most of the gods. Along with Baldur and Höðr, they are destined to inherit their father’s hammer, Mjölnir, and help rebuild the world in the aftermath of the apocalypse. This indicates that Móði and Magni, as symbols of strength and endurance, will carry forward Thor’s legacy into the new world, ensuring the survival of courage and power.
