History of Nani baUrash

The Goddess of Love

Nani baUrash was born on the Earth-3.0 universe before the collapse of the Chronoverse. She was a meltsar and daughter of Urash and Pendigalli. Originally, she was in allegiance with her parents and supporting the efforts of their creator Enlil, but in time she would fall in love with Nabu and align herself with the House of Enki. During her time in House Enlil she would befriend Inanna (Gilah), the granddaughter of Enlil. She along with Bizilla and Inanna would form a trio of love goddesses on the earth and become best friends.

Her primary role was that of a goddess of love, and she was associated with eroticism and sensuality, though she was also a patron of lovers, including rejected or betrayed ones. She was referred to as bēlet ru’āmi, “lady of love”.

Tašmētum, Goddess of Intercessory

After marrying the god of messengers, Nabu, she became a goddess of intercessory and would serve as a listener of the mortal prayers so that they may be carried to the gods they prayed to for their holy gifts.

Her husbands name nabû meant “to call”, and the šemû portion of her name meant “to hear”. Within the halls of the palace of Marduk she was considered a courtesan, one that Nabu was fond of and would become his spouse because of the love he had for her.

The Comforting Goddess

During the era of the Sumerians and Mesopotamians she was known as Nanaya (also spelled Nanāy, Nanāja, Nanai, Nanâ, and Νανα) and Tašmētum (also spelled Tashmetum). As the aforementioned she was a friend and associate of Inanna, but as Tašmētum she was the wife Nabu and was seen as a protective intercessory goddess.

However, when the era of the Egyptians came she would become known as Maat (also spelled as Ma’at), goddess truth, balance, order, harmony, law, morality, and justice. She regulated the stars, seasons, and the actions of mortals and deities who had brought order from chaos at the moment of creation. Her adversaries were Apep, the Lord of Chaos, and Isfet, the God of Injustice.

When the Greeks took power she would be called Peithō (also spelled Peitho), goddess of persuasion, winning eloquence, and persuasion. She still remained friends with Aphrodite after all of those years. Over the eras she mastered the art of both sexual and political persuasion and was associated with the art of rhetoric. The Romans would refer to her as Suada or Suadela.

Before the Great Exile she would take her place in Šamym with her husband, Gabriel, and take on the name Hariel. She was seen as the messenger of purity and liberation. She is the fifteenth angel of the seventy-two named angels. She was a member of the Cherubim choir and her name means “The Comforting God”
