History of Mardak Whetū

The Young Priest

Mardak Whetū was born after the collapse of the Chronoverse on the planet Rēphan in the new universe of Zetalon. He grew up on a planet that was devoted to Iah and the Jedim Church, raised in their ways and teachings. He decided to go to monastery school so that he could become a priest in the future. Even though it wasn’t required he took a vow of celibacy and was placed on Elam after finishing his studies.

In Elam, he worked in the Jedim Church’s branch headquarters. Mardak was a young priest of the age of twenty two working in the congregation. There he met a woman named Sister Agatha who had been a devoted follower of Iah for many years and she helped him often when he needed around the church.

After spending ten years as a priest of the Jedim Church in Elam, the previous Sovereign Priest died on Rēphan from natural causes. This started the search for the new Sovereign Priest to replace him. The council came to Mardak and told him they were led by Iah to select him as the next Sovereign Priest of the Jedim Church.

Mardak accepted the position and became the Sovereign Priest. After he finished the coronation he moved the focal point of the Jedim Church’s authority to Elam, away from Rēphan. He stated that Elam needed saving and so it needed the presence of the Sovereign Priest to accomplish this.

A Fractured Church

During his reign as the Sovereign Priest is the first time the Church was ever fractured. During his last year in charge a man who went by the title of The Pope appeared and questioned the authority of Sovereign Priest Mardak.

The Jedim Church split in two and then began to fracture even more into separate denominations. One of which became the followers of the Honorable Reverend José Silva who was elected as High Chancellor of Zetalon.

Having a fractured church made him distraught and he tried his best to keep things together while the world he knew, the world he grew up with was falling apart.
