History of Artair Lamont
The Beggar King
Artair Lamont was born in the Transylvania universe before the collapse of the Chronoverse. He was a street urchin, himself, who climbed the ladder to power. His family was poor and slept under bridges and in unfavorable places while he was growing up.
Artair’s main motivation was to gain power and wealth. Growing up in poverty and constantly struggling to survive, he developed a strong desire to rise above his circumstances and become successful. He saw power as the key to achieving his goals and is willing to do whatever it takes to attain it.
When he became the ringleader of some orphans and beggars in his town he appointed himself the title The Beggar King. Only beggars with begging permits from him were allowed to beg and it was his gang’s responsibility to ensure that those without a permit were chased out of town or placed to work as slaves where nobles would pay The Beggar King for their work.
As Artair rose to power, he became more ruthless and power-hungry. His desire for wealth and control over others consumed him, leading him to form strict rules for the beggars in his town. He saw them as pawns in his game of power and was willing to use them for his own gain.
The Armory
The first time he engaged with the Armory was at the age of forty after he had served as The Beggar King of Edinburgh for twenty two years. He was met by Lady Mel and her younger sister, Ollie. They sought to provide assistance to the orphans under his care, something he wasn’t interested in.
Lady Mel would tell her sister to attack The Beggar King by telling Ollie to “play with her food first.” Terrified by the pure strength of a vampire pinning him down, mixed with the unhinged morals of Lady Mel, he submitted and agreed to work under her to provide a better life for the orphans and to serve The Armory.
He would begin working with Olga directly when Lady Mel deemed Olga to be old enough and grounded enough to manage something as important as the information network of the Armory. Over the years his heart soften and he tried his best to care for the orphans since he was well compensated by House de Matthecourt and didn’t need to fight over scraps.
